Understanding a Case Is Not Permission to Reproduce Its Test

Field reports may describe professional measurements and repairs. This page marks the conditions where a homeowner should stop, isolate the appliance when safe and obtain qualified help.

Stop-use conditions

Smoke, arcing, scorching or a hot electrical odor.
A repeated breaker trip or evidence that metal parts may be energized.
A gas odor, delayed ignition, flame rollout or uncontrolled repeated sparking.
An active leak reaching wiring, controls, receptacles or flooring.
Grinding, overheating or movement that could cause mechanical injury.

If isolation cannot be done safely, keep clear and use the appropriate local emergency, utility or qualified-service channel.

Procedures this library does not teach homeowners

Live-voltage measurements or energized cabinet access.
Gas pressure, combustion, ignition or leak repair.
Refrigerant recovery, charging or sealed-system opening.
Microwave high-voltage diagnosis, including stored-energy circuits.
Bypassing doors, lids, interlocks or other protective devices.

The same symptom can have a different cause. Repeating a hazardous test from a superficially similar case can introduce a new fault or injury risk.
