The freezer had received a defrost assembly and cooling fan. On startup it sounded shorted, flashed its thermostat light and would not run the compressor or fan.
The same symptom can have a different cause. The immediate post-repair timing made the disturbed wiring especially important in this case.
The technician later reported that the cooling-fan wires had been interchanged during installation. The mistake applied line voltage to the fan housing. Correcting the connections resolved the complaint.
